Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 years of age and older, certain younger adults with disabilities and people with end-stage renal disease. Children with disabilities who have reached adulthood, who receive Social Security benefits based on their parents’ employment history can receive Medicare benefits. The Medicare program includes hospital insurance (Part A), medical insurance (Part B), Medicare HMO plans (Medicare Advantage), and Medicare prescription drug plans (Part D)
